Camps
Camp Decorah runs organised camps through the year for Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA and their families. Cub Scouts earn belt loops and Webelos earn activity pins; Scouts BSA work on advancement and merit badges. Gateway Scouting’s summer programs are open to everyone — any elementary school aged youth falls under the same pricing as a Cub Scout.
Cub Scout Day Camp
2026 Week-Long Day Camp: Invention Convention — Monday, August 10 to Friday, August 14, 2026 at Camp Decorah.
Five action-packed days of summer fun, open to Cub Scouts, siblings and friends in grades K–5. Shooting sports, nature exploration and themed activities. Scouts are grouped into dens and guided by camp leaders; parents and guardians are welcome to volunteer.
- Cost: $175 for the full week, or $40 per single day. Adults attend free.
- Registration deadline: August 1, 2026 (also the free T-shirt deadline).
- Kindergarten and first graders need a parent or guardian to attend with them, based on their Fall 2026 grade.
- Flexible registration: single day or multiple days.
Daily schedule: check-in 7:30–8:30 am, opening flag ceremony 8:30 am, morning sessions 9:00 am–12:00 pm, lunch 12:00 pm, den competitions 12:30 pm, afternoon sessions 1:00–4:00 pm, closing flag ceremony 4:15 pm, check-out 4:30 pm.
Cub Overnight Camp
August 12–14, 2026. Cub Scouts can add an overnight stay with their parent or adult partner, starting at 6:00 pm on Wednesday and running through the end of Day Camp around 4:00 pm on Friday.
Cost: $280 for Week-Long Day Camp and Overnight Camp together.
Scouts BSA Week-Long Camp
A week-long resident camp at Camp Decorah for Scouts BSA members, with advancement and merit badges in a fun and engaging environment — a 7-day, 6-night stay with meals served in the dining hall.
2027 camp dates:
- Week 1: June 21 – June 25, 2027
- Scouts BSA Day Camp: July 5 – July 9, 2027
- Week 2: July 11 – July 16, 2027
- Week 3: July 18 – July 23, 2027
Programs: the Brownsea program for first-year Scouts, plus merit badges across the shooting range, climbing tower, zip line, COPE course, pool, waterfront, handicraft and outdoor skills areas.
Registration: troops submit a $100 deposit per Scout before registering for merit badges or activities. Scouts who cannot attend with their troop can register through the Provisional Camp option and join another Gateway Area Council troop or be grouped under camp staff supervision.
Winter Wonder Cubs Camp
February 27–28, 2026 at Camp Decorah. An overnight winter adventure for Cub Scouts and their adult partner. Guests can stay in Dahl Hall, camp outside in a tent, or bring a camper.
- Cost: $40 per Cub Scout, $20 per adult partner.
- Bring a white T-shirt for tie dye and a can of soup (no cream soups or ramen).
- A snack Friday night, plus breakfast and lunch Saturday — and plenty of hot cocoa and Mystery Soup.
